groceries
My local grocery store has been under construction for about 2 years or something, so I was pretty excited when it opened up this weekend. It's now the swankiest thing around, and we rushed to use all the coupons we got in the mail. Here are a few of our spoils:
In a regular Asian grocery store, Chinese long string beans are just thrown in a pile, literally. Here, they are braided. My mom was also remarking on how the beans themselves aren't so fresh. All smokes and mirrors.
Homemade steak chili burrito includes chunks of steak, chili, shreds of romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoes, all sprinkled in lime and wrapped in a spinach tortilla. Results: yum! Also made some guacamole that wasn't as great. I hear the trick is to choose the right ripeness.
